Just so you know what you can expect from me, and what I can expect from you.

  • Use the registration form if you want to sign up for singing lessons. You can get this form from the teacher. The registration form must be handed in before the first lesson starts.

  • A 30-minute lesson costs €20 (+21% VAT). Students that are younger than 21 years old do not pay VAT. For other pricing plans see Pricing.

  • Students can take 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons. 30-minute and 45-minute classes are on a weekly basis. 60-minute lessons are weekly, or biweekly. Fixed times will be scheduled together with the teacher.

  • Tuition will be calculated and billed bimonthly. You will receive an invoice for the next two months around the first of the first of those two months. Invoices must be paid within 14 days via bank transfer.

  • Tuition does not include teaching materials, which need to be purchased by the student. This will always be discussed beforehand.

  • The notice period is one month. So the notice period starts on the first of the month after the month in which you submit your termination of contract.

  • The first 4 lessons that will be invoiced count as a trial period. If the student does not want to continue after these four lessons, there will be no further notice period.

  • No lessons will be given during school holidays and national holidays. Exceptions can be made, if the teacher and student agree on this.

  • The student pays for planned lessons. When a student plans lessons on a weekly basis, there are approximately 38 lessons per year. If a student cancels a lesson or doesn’t show, the lesson must be paid for by the student. If a lesson is cancelled within 48 hours it will not be refunded and there is no possibility for a catch-up lesson.

  • A maximum of 2 lessons (if the student signs up for 19 lessons per year) or 4 lessons (if the student signs up for 38 lessons per year) can be cancelled each year. These 2 or 4 cancelled lessons will be marked as ‘catch-up lessons’, which will be planned on a day and time that suit both teacher and student. The student should propose a new date within 7 days of cancellation.

  • If a student cancels a 2-hour lesson the student is obliged to pay 50% of that lesson, as long as the cancellation takes place earlier than 48 hours before the start of the lesson. 100% of the lesson must be paid for by the student, if a student cancels a lesson within 48 hours before the start of the lesson.

  • Payment for lessons may temporarily be put on hold, if lessons cannot be continued by the student for a longer time period due to (a) medical issue(s). The teacher may ask for a written doctor’s statement.

  • When the teacher cancels a lesson, the teacher will propose an alternative date for a catch-up lesson. If a student does not reply to this alternative date proposed by the teacher within 14 days, the possibility of a catch-up lesson will be scrapped. In this case the student will be obliged to pay for the lesson cancelled by the teacher.

  • The teacher retains the right to change lesson prices once a year.

  • When a student (A) brings in a new student (B) who starts following paid singing lessons, student A receives one free lesson. This lesson will be credited on the first following invoice.

WELL BEGUN IS HALF DONE

CHOOSE YOUR SONG

  • Each lesson we work on a song of your choosing! Tip: choose a song that you would like to learn! It gives great satisfaction to sing the songs you’d never thought you were capable of singing!

KNOW YOUR SONG!

  • You don’t have to sing the song flawlessly straight away, otherwise you wouldn’t need singing lessons! But the better you prepare your lessons, the more confident you will feel. Which will affect your posture to a great extent, and will make you feel more at ease.

    • Prepare the melody

    • Prepare the rhythm of the lyrics

    • Make sure you know the lyrics. If you don’t know them by heart, please bring them to class.

It’s very pleasant to know your songs by heart. Of course you can keep your lyrics with you during class, but it’s tempting to hide behind a piece of paper. Singing for someone else takes guts and demands vulnerability, which is a beautiful thing. Singing with emotion allows you to analyse your singing in a more profound way than when you’re reading from a piece of paper.

WHAT TO LEARN?

  • What questions do you have about the song you’re singing? Do you have trouble with the rhythm, or reaching high or low notes? Are you looking for a different sound? These are things you need to think about. Set goals for yourself: what do you want to be the result? Knowing these things allows me to provide you with better lessons, while in the meantime you’re focussing on your learning process.
